CC Sailing - Sponsored Sail to Lefkas, Greece
The Plan...
Claires Court Students and Staff will be taking on the mighty challenge to sail the equivalent distance from Maidenhead, (the Home of CC Sailing), all the way to Lefkas, Greece (the location of our 2024 Sailing Trip), a distance of nearly 4000 Nautical Miles. To make it even harder? We want to complete this challenge before the end of the Spring Term 2024!
How?
Working with an average speed of 5 knots, we will be tracking how far each of our Students and Staff sail this term. Every single one of our students will be taking part in this journey during their games lessons and any extra time spent on the water by staff will be added to the total too!
Why?
Teaching, instructing and coaching the sport of sailing requires constant feedback, tips and safety cover from what is known as 'RIB's'. These Rigid Inflatable Boats are key to the development and growth of our students' present and future. As the CC Sailing Department, we are looking at adding an additional RIB to our facility for two key motives;
1. Enable us to support a larger number of students in day to day operation of the CC Sailing Department.
2. As the style and quantity of sailing competitions that the CC Sailing Department is attending are increasing and varied (with our #CCSailingRaceTeam having the opportunity to attend 12 weekend events in the 23/24 season!), we want to ensure that we are able to provide coaching and safety support in an inclusive manner across all these fixtures for all sailors, and this new RIB would enable us to do that.

We are very excited to be opening up our 'Just Giving' page, where funds are directed to the school's PTA charity, who then reinvest directly back into the projects we are working on.
This PTA body has already given us generous support towards this project, with a lump sum as a head start but from here it's up to us.
