Deputy Head of Outdoor Education: Mr J Wragg

Always at his happiest outdoors, be it hill walking, climbing, surfing, canoeing, camping, biking or walking with his family. With over 20 years in the outdoor industry James has led DofE canoeing and walking expeditions at all levels in UK and Europe. 

James is also an environmental fundraiser, working with the World Land Trust to protect over 67'000m2 of rainforest through his Cycle For Change project.

Skills and Qualifications: 

Outdoor Education Administrator: Mrs C Payne

Mrs P uses organisational skills gained in her previous work life to corral and co-ordinate the Outdoor Education team. In school she can be found teaching in the Art room, and in her spare time she races her Laser at Maidenhead Sailing Club (when it's warm).

Head Sailing Coach:  Mr S Isaacs-Johnson

Mr IJ is a qualified RYA Senior Sailing Instructor and Level 3 race coach. He spends his spare time racing his RS Aero and as the Head Coach of the UK Aero Class. His top RS Aero 5 result was 7th at the World Championships in Sardinia 2023. 

Sailing Chief Instructor: Miss S Stockton

Miss Stockton teaches sailing, paddling and DofE at Claires Court Outdoor Education. When not at work, she can often be found blasting around in an RS400, RS Aero or hiking up a mountain.

An exciting addition to our team, Suzie brings a huge amount of outdoor expertise to Claires Court, from paddle sports to high ropes, archery and axe throwing!

Outdoor Education Instructor: Mr C Nash

Chris is a keen dinghy racer, currently competing in the Laser class at Maidenhead SC. He also competes in a series of Laser open events across the Thames Valley, plus a few coastal and national competitions.

Outdoor Education Instructor: Mr E Thorne

As well as being part of the Geography Department at CCSB, Mr Thorne is actively involved in both Paddlesports and Sailing within Claires Court Outdoor Ed. Having said this, his true passion lies within windsurfing, where he can often be found blasting around a lake or off the coast somewhere.

Ms Tyne is an enthusiastic member of the team, assisting wherever she can. Whether it's younger sailors on the water or accompanying groups on trips, she's usually slightly damp but in her element. Away from the water, Cathy can be found teaching Maths to the girls at the college.

Miss Smith is a core part of paddlesports in the Outdoor Education Department.

Outdoor Education Instructor: Mr D Hines

Mr Hines is an amazing addition to the Sailing Team. Having worked in Portland for many years, (The location of the 2012 Olympics), he has become a Sail Foil expert and can be found in his spare time, flying around weymouth and portland harbour on his WASZP.
